The road not taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I
could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim

Because it was grassy and wanted wear,

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Based on what I've understood on this poem, I think that this poem may inspire many people to choose what's best for them. Many people are not sure of the road that they want to go but with God's help and strength, we can choose correctly. Based on my interpretation of the poem, the author, at first, didn't know what road to choose. In the second stanza, the author said that he had taken the other road because it seems that the road is less traveled by and has less traffic. But then he said that the two roads looks just the same.

Also as I interpreted the poem, I can see that the author wanted to turn back and try the other road. But he changes his decision and continue to his decision because he knows that time is short. So based on my over all interpretation of the poem, I think that what the author would like to say is that decisions in our life are easy to say but if we make it, it's difficult because we always have this 'doubt' that whatever we choose, we always have in mind that 'what if'. I also think that the author wanted us to know that making decisions has a lot of sacrifices to do because in every decision that we make, there would always be consequences.
